RBC GIB Analysts Rugby Event

On Monday August 8th, we hosted over 70 RBC Analysts at Pier 5 for an afternoon of rugby action. The group had just completed summer internships in the city and many of them will be staying on as full-time staff.

The event kicked off with an introduction from our CEO and Founder, Mark Griffin MBE, who helped introduce the sport and it’s Olympic history to the group of Rugby newbies. They were then split up into groups for the activities to follow. Play Rugby NY Academy Staff along with the Brooklyn Borough Based Academy were on hand to teach the RBC staff the basics of Rugby. Under their guidance Team RBC learned the game astonishingly quickly and before we knew it, they were playing full flag rugby. The young professionals then competed against each other in a tournament, culminating in a thrilling final and an award ceremony to finish off the day.

The young professionals from RBC seemed to thoroughly enjoy the experience, many of which expressed a desire to continue playing the game. A corporate touch league organized by us could well be on the horizon!

We enjoyed the enthusiasm among Team RBC and look forward to working with them again at the Youth Inc ‘Race for the Kids’ Event on October 1st. Learn more here.
