Development Coordinator – AmeriCorps VISTA

Use your marketing training and communication skills to build capacity of a leader in Sports-Based Youth Development in New York City!

Play Rugby USA has an opportunity for an AmeriCorps VISTA to significantly contribute to our three-year strategic initiative, aiming to transform the Sports-Based Youth Development Sector through innovative and impactful programming.

As a VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) through the AmeriCorps program you will have the opportunity to work with our leadership team and contribute as part of that team to our capacity building initiative through the following projects:

  • Support of our Grant writing process through assistance in grant writing as well as maintenance and consolidation of materials required for submissions with both public and private grants
  • Enhance and improve the capacity of organization’s funding and program development staff to use technology tools for effectively gathering, allocating and utilizing information resources
  • Assist with compilation, maintenance and development of Donor Database information for Individuals and Corporations by examination of and recommendations for How data is collected: Effectiveness of data collection; Effective use of data resources.
  • Provide assistance for and contribute to the organization’ s daily operations around communications, events and campaigns

Play Rugby USA is a leading Sports-Based Youth Development Organization founded in 2003 and subsequently has partnered with 300 public schools and community based organizations throughout New York City providing programming currently to over 3000 school aged youth per year.  We use the unique power of rugby to inspire youth, working to create a safe space for youth to Go Forward and reach their true potential

As part of the 2017-18 Up2Us Sports VISTA cohort of 25 members you will have the opportunity over the twelve-month term of the appointment to make a unique contribution to Play Rugby USA’s Strategic Development plans.  Through the program, you will receive A Living Allowance Contribution: Relocation Reimbursement; Professional Development opportunities including a fully paid 4-day training in Boston; Health Coverage, Vacation and Sick leave entitlements; Choice of Education Award or End of Service Stipend.
